So Lazy

March 29, 2008

Too lazy to update blog in the past couple of days ><. Yep I’m a horrible person. I’ve been going out a lot this spring break in comparison to the last couple I think. I’ve been to the area around Bayfair around what, 4 times? this week.

So Wednesday I went to Japantown with some friends. Sophia wanted Elvin to help buy her a sword since he was 18, but he wasn’t allowed to bring ID in the form of a passport >>;. But we went in to the sword store anyways…I wonder why swords seem so cool? Because they can cut people up? Because they’ve been depicted in an appealing fashion in fiction and media? Or just because? Personally, I think swords are cool because of influence from fiction >>;. Well, inside the store, the TV was playing Big Trouble in Little China, although the name escaped me at the time. I remember reading about the movie, but I haven’t watched it before. And I saw a sign saying “wafu” outside some restaurant. Lol, like “waifu” >>;. After lunch at Mifune, we went to the market, and I got a box of “Pansy Pocky” (say it in a deep MANLY voice >>;), which is a small box of strawberry Pocky. I don’t believe I’ve ever eaten Pocky prior to that…or at least I don’t remember it >>;. I also bought a bottle of Ramune Drink! Those bottles are so cool, with that glass marble thing you press down to drink it, although content inside is a bit…small. However, the bottle is so worth it, I’m collecting that crap >>;. After we got back to SL, Sophia and Liz went home while Elvin and I decided to ride around…to Fremont, then to Dublin/Pleasanton, then to Bayfair, where Elvin wanted to go to Michaels to look for sketching material, I suppose. Then I had my dad drive us home, since it was starting to rain. And the smell of wet tar sucks ass.

Yesterday, I was woken by the call of Elvin who wanted to go to my house? Yeah, didn’t exactly expect that. I had plans to work. Of course, those were thrown to the side of the road (bad Gary). For breakfast, I undercooked bacon (my cooking sucks to hell) and put it on rice. Then we stayed at my house while I was waiting for Richard to respond (he wasn’t home, but he wasn’t idle). Then we walked off to Bayfair, with Elvin being indecisive about food. I actually don’t know why we were headed there >>;. At any rate, we went back to Elvin’s house and played Brawl ^_^. Wolf is fun to use, and his forward smash smacks of awesomeness >>;. Then Elvin cleaned himself up, and we headed for my house, I put on semiformal clothes (I look like an idiot in them. I hate them >>;) and went off to International Night.

International Night was an interesting affair…most of the people I know in Interact were working or doing special stuff, so it was a good thing Elvin was there so I had company…sadly Sophia could not make it. There were goldfish in bowls on the table as centerpiece-thingies, which took me a while to actually realise ><. The food I felt was a tad paltry, but since they were running on donations and such, it probably couldn’t have been helped. The show had lots of singers and dancers, including those break dancers that performed at Unity Day. Same song too for at least the first song >>;. Their acrobatics however remain awe-inspiring, if only for the point that I can’t do them >>;. The best part however was the Chinese yoyo person, even if he made a couple of mistakes, his act overall was the most impressive. However, there were some rather unpolished acts, or at least one in particular: apparently the singer of A Thousand Miles was off-tempo and rushing the pianist along. Elvin’s ears are better than mine, so I’m going by his >>;.

I have so much work left. Fucking a. Barely any bio work done, and then the other stuff I have to deal with >>;. Lovely.

Listening to: the sound of my keys rattling on my keyboard >>;.

You know how Jackson Pollock came up with his art?

March 24, 2008

Yesterday, I went up the hill in El Cerrito to visit grandma and grandpa’s gravestone. The cemetery had some work done to it, now they have an artificial waterfall there. Besides that, it was the same old thing, and I used the time to begin reading The Light Fantastic. We came down, had lunch in some noodle shop, and came back. I went to the Octagon car wash around 1:30 and failed at washing cars (I can’t squeegee for crap, from what I hear). Some lady, probably a bus driver since she had on an AC Transit uniform, was annoyed at us because we scratched up her absolutely lovely black paint job on her Jeep because we used the rough side of a sponge to soap it down. *sigh* How many people are actually going to pay attention to it?

Today, I went to Berkeley, since Elvin wanted his 4×4x4 *sigh*. He has so many cubes, how addicted! Hell, he was sidetracked from taking a shower because there was somehow a cube in the bathroom >>;. We first went to Games of Berkeley. They had a lot of different stuff, board games, DnD materials, Bionicle (oooooo, but damn more expensive than Target), yoyos, puzzles, etc. I got a basic yoyo to fail at yoyo-ing with. Then we looked around for eats, and Elvin got Subway, since I wasn’t hungry. Then we went to Gamestop, played Rock Band, and then headed home. Fairly uneventful, though we talked about lots of important stuff, like how the people on campus were very couply, wore short shorts, and weren’t virgins. >>;

March 20, 2008

Yesterday was a field trip to the SF Botanical Gardens. While the “out of school” thing was nice, plant scavenger hunts are not my cup of tea, especially when the ground was wet a lot (mud isn’t really my thing). So, as expected, BART was crowded, as it was the morning rush to work, and we crowded it even more than it needed to be >>;. We had a lovely ride to Glen Park (I wonder how it was named), and we missed the bus that we needed to catch since we were on the wrong side of the road. So we waited. And waited. And waited. And guess what? Not waited, but had the first half of the kids board the already crowded bus and waited for the next one for the other half. And waited. And waited. And waited. And then had a really lousy, shaky, bumpy ride to the botanical gardens. Standing up on a moving bus without and support is a real feat.

The garden itself was beautiful, but a tad wet for my liking. I fretted over the scavenger hunt assignment, I still think I did a poor job…some things are just so hard to find though, like a fern gametophyte >>;. There were lots of squirrels in the park, and they were quite brazen; one was in front of the bathroom, and completely unafraid of all the people there, watching it, even after one guy tried to grab it multiple times. Hell, it even went up to the tip of my umbrella when I pointed it at the squirrel. Side note, I brought my large Ikea umbrella because it looked like it was going to rain. It didn’t. So I just stood out >>;.

We finished looking, at lunch, went home a different route involving the MUNI Metro (a much smoother ride, with MUCH more space in it too) and riding it all the way to Montgomery station. So, our red tickets still have 25 cents on them…I wonder if they have reduced fare or some shit? Or is it just a different colour for design? >>;.

Afterwards, I went back to school to see if Elvin would let me and Richard play Brawl at his house, but since he’s sick and doesn’t want to contaminate his brother we didn’t. Not to worry though, since we went to Bayfair after walking Richard home and the Gamestop close by had BRAWL! So I got my first taste of it…and it was awesome, simply awesome. It is a pity that I didn’t get to use a Gamecube controller, I think I may have done better with that >>;. Nunchuk is a tad foreign to me to use. I experienced the awesomeness though…and goddamn is Charizard slow >>;.

After walking around Target, with Elvin buying clothes, we went to Jamba Juice, then went home by BART (my normal ticket had some left in it). So that was a pretty good day. Lacking a bit though, in something…

Today, recycling was…abysmal. Never again are we going to postpone recycling…shit idea. We had 6 people there total…back to legacy times when we were really hard up for volunteers >>;. It is done though, that is good.

Starcraft is rather discouraging…why is the enemy somehow always one step ahead of me, and I’m always forced into a defensive situation where I can’t strike back while the enemy is all over the map? >>; I suck at this…

I’m tired now, so night.

The Surface

March 18, 2008

The night, I enjoy it, walking through it listening to my music. We went to Nation’s, and I trod home in solitude, enjoying the walk.

Today we had the winter tournament for BAAL (yeah, it’s spring, I know, but poor scheduling and such messed up the season and stuff >>;), and we won our two of our games, and finishing second in the other game. It was a tad…surprising, seeing as we usually lose against other from experience. The people from Mira Loma were very charismatic and social…something I don’t do >>;. And they came from Sacramento, from what I hear? That’s far >>;. Very far.

As it is

March 17, 2008

There’s been nothing much lately. Saturday I went to a middle school wrestling tournament to help time the matches; it ended later than expected, but I still walked home, after I ate some horrible horrible Chinese food from Chopsticks. I was hungry, I didn’t eat since dinner (which were some potstickers, so it doesn’t really count >>;), didn’t wake up for breakfast and didn’t have time for lunch before I had to head off. So I got home around 8:45, yay for walking around at night >>;.

Besides that, rather nothing much has happened. Except I’ve been feeling a tad shitty recently…but who knows why?

I did have a dream prior to writing this…I had a really big nosebleed/cut in the mouth or something, and blood didn’t seem to stop coming out…that’s a really delayed dream, isn’t it? I think that nosebleed episode in the mountains caused it. Other than that bit, most of it was really…blurry.

Coming Out Like Crap

March 11, 2008

Usually my days start out like shit and end up better at the end. English brings me down, lunch brings me up, government brings me up a bit since I can make perverted comments a good amount of the times, and then biology is just fine. Then it’s afterschool which mean I can go home or go hang out or go something.

Today ended out crappy. I woke up after a lovely dream…for once, it’s not violent. I missed 2nd block because I didn’t finish my work and didn’t feel like going to school anyways. Then government was ok, since it was probably the only time I could ever say “stash of porn” in class that loudly (talking about Mapp v. Ohio). Biology I got pulled out of class to take a picture for the commendation from National Merit Scholarship…I wanted to get going on my biology reading T_T. And afterschool just felt like pure shit for some reason…I hate coming home and feeling bleh.
Being optimistic just doesn’t work for me.

Ski Trip

March 10, 2008

I’m not in the mood to work on anything, GAHHHHH!

The Interact Ski Trip, it happened from Friday to Sunday. I haven’t been up to the cold snow and mountains in a long while, but things happened like I thought…well, the headache part, at least >>;.

We left for the mountains around 6, Friday night, and we played Mario Kart during the ride. We had 7 DSes in the van, so it was quite a large game. However, I got motion sickness a bit so I stopped playing. Good thing we stopped at some Wendy’s midway, otherwise I would have been VERY uncomfortable. Apparently it’s a tradition to flood that very location of Wendy’s with Interactors every year. After junk food, ride continued until around 10. The ride was REALLY bumpy, going and coming back, as well as winding. There were points where we came to a hump in the road where we couldn’t see beyond the hump but sky…I hate those. Crappy country roads, I really don’t want to ride those roads again…we got to the BIG cabin of Ivan’s, who is the Rotarian who seemed to have organised the thing? Eh, I don’t know, he seems to run the show though. There were 3 levels, one of them underground, that being the game room (pool table, a shelf full of board games, chess table, poker stuffs, large ass TV, etc.). The first level had a kitchen and a living room with a fireplace, which seemed to be on very often >>;. The second level had bedrooms and the carpet up there was comfortable enough to sleep on. I didn’t stay there to sleep though, even though I’m pretty sure there’s room enough for everyone to stay there >>;.

The cabin I stayed at was much less opulent than Ivan’s lordly cabin. It was golf themed: there were pictures of golf, statuettes of golfers, golf trophies, golf clubs, a small shelf of golf balls, among others >>;. We played Monopoly until around 1 or so, and I slept badly in a recliner. They apparently aren’t as comfortable to sleep in as I thought >>;.

We woke around 6 and rushed to get ready. We woke early because we had to get to the ski resort early…and of course I held us back because I forgot the money needed to pay for skis, as well as suntan lotion >>;. I wanted a shower, but time was pressing…we rushed to the big cabin for breakfast (muffins and cereal? Is it actually filling? I like rice, it’s filling >>;. Is that really the usual breakfast for people?) Then we went off to Bear Valley Ski Resort, where a couple people decided not to snowboard because it was felt hard in comparison with skiing. Those people included me, so we decided to go pay for a skiing lesson package. Sidestepping for some reason don’t work for me…I think I’m placing my weight on the side of my feet, but I’m not? Eh, I don’t know anymore. Instructor liked to yell…apparently like Lebe. I apparently got a bit better at the end and was able to slide down a gentle slope without much incident…feet were really tired afterwards (no stamina as usual) and in pain (goddamn things are way too tight around lower legs) and so turned in my skis for lunch, which cost 9 dollars for a burger and a drink. Fucking expensive goddamit. Then I just hung around the lounge waiting for everyone to finish off. Lots of butthurts that day apparently…I had headhurts though, though I am thankful that it occured after most of the skiing so I only had to endure during lunch and after. Just like last time I went, except I had it before I went skiing so the skiing itself sucked ass.

We went home, cleaned ourselves up, went to big cabin for pizza dinner (Round Table, there’s a store right in front of the mountain maze), played Charades (I liked my idea of Ken Masters, you’d be doing Ryu’s motions since they have same moves pretty much, but Ryu is the wrong answer…), interrupted by adults returning for talent show (some very skillful performances, and others…less so >>;. Brave of them all though) and went home. We waited for pizza by watching Women of Ninja Warrior, which is women going through an obstacle course that very few can complete…both balance and speed are needed to completely clear the course. The big point seems to be women falling in water though, since it’s very frequent that it happens.

Sunday we went off to the snow park (golf course covered in snow, essentially). The snow was hard, uneven, and my snow boots had no grip ><. I spent half of it making snowballs for the purpose of making them, then attacking people that attacked me (yeah, totally backfired on me, asses), then spent the rest of my time there bleeding my nose out. People told me to hold my head forward, then others told me to hold it back, then others told me to hold it neutral. Some told me to pinch my nose, others told me ice my forehead, some told me to drink water. Sadly, since I only have so many hands, I put one hand to use holding tissue into the nose, and another hand to hold tissues/pinch nose. I must thank Judy for holding ice to my forehead though…how nice of her ^_^. I seriously need to know what posture my head should be in…I’ve always held head back/laid down and they all ended quicker than this nosebleed. What’s so dangerous about swallowing blood? After the bloody debacle, my hands were covered with blood (yeah, I murdered something) and my face looked like I dived into a corpse or some such >>;. I cleaned off most of it, buried the bloody snow, and went back to cabin to clean selves off. We then had lunch, packed, and went home.

I still have work to do…and I fell asleep. This is great, you know?

The Pier

March 2, 2008

ARGH, for some reason I was kicked off without my post being saved TTTT_____TTTT. And so I’ll recreate as much as possible from memory…damned computers ><.

So, today…

I went to San Francisco again. I went with Liz and Elvin to Pier 39 to see if I could find me one of those old guy hats that I like so much. Besides the lunch, didn’t find anything of worth that was affordably priced ><. They wanted to go by ferry, so I decided to play along…Elvin’s dad took us to the ferry terminal. Problem was, it was the wrong ferry terminal, so that was an hour lost to waiting for Elvin’s dad to return (he had no cell phone on him, he left already before we figured out that it was the wrong one ><). I spent my time wandering around the surrounding park and observing plants. Ever since we started (we’re still on them, by the way) plants in AP Biology, they have become a lot more interesting, since I actually know what I’m looking at or looking for. So after the wait, they decided they wanted to still go, and by ferry, so we went to the proper port for the ferry…

Ferry was crap. Major points of annoyance: I didn’t like the bumpiness along the ride from the Ferry Building to Pier 41. The wind was damned cold. Apparently, people ride the ferry instead of BART for the lovely scenery? Not something you’re paying attention to when the wind is whipping you cold ><. It’s pointless to sit on the lower decks since your scenery is cut by lots. Perhaps I’ll ride again, on a warmer day. Or perhaps never. I’m leaning towards the second.

We ate lunch at the Sea Lion Cafe. The food tasted great, although it was a tad more expensive that what I was originally aiming for…Lovely view too, of sea lions resting/duking it out on floaters. Really sad thing that people found it was a funny affair that there were two sea lions fighting for a large (and damaged too) floater when there were plenty more. Or perhaps that’s the funny? Eh, probably not. Of course, it’s more like a lovely view for Liz and Elvin, since my back was facing the view >>;. I ordered Fish and Chips and a bowl of clam chowder (teh awesomez). Food was very filling, I could barely finish it (and I didn’t, didn’t touch the veggie bits at the bottom of the plate, apparently they weren’t that great (Elvin said they tasted poorly). They also looked unnatural…I think they were brined >>;).

After meal, we took a look at the hats. Too expensive, the hat that I like, perhaps another day…it doesn’t look that great on me though, since I have crazy hair…

Those two wanted to go home by ferry, but I wanted to go home by BART, which is less costly and speedier in terms of time, so I walked off towards after saying bye. It was actually not that far of a walk/run, though I thought otherwise (thanks to my poor distance approximation/people putting ideas in my head >>;). Things I noticed while going home:

Roller bladers, bicyclists, and skateboarders abound on the Embarcadero, as well as runners. Popular place to exercise, I suppose. Even though there are signs and whatnot saying that roller blading and skateboards aren’t allowed to be in use…Elvin would like this place, hmm? There was a roller blader that was doing tricks, jumping around, and skating backwards and such. Reminded me of the man in Paris in that video, he was amazing with his roller blades. Inspires one to go out and skate again…excepting my skates being a tad small for me >>;.

Along the Embarcadero is a line of green bricks, laid down around the middle of the road running parallel to the road. Every so often, the line comes across a stone block, and it continues on, showing over the stone block, then coming back to ground level. I was reminded of the time that I went to take a look at an aircraft carrier on Fleet Week, the waiting in line along the Embarcadero (was a forever ><), sitting on those stone blocks, and the feeling of being let down…the aircraft carrier was not very cool. It’s a faint memory…

I passed by some large fountain thing along the way to the station, very close to Market Street already. I remembered that picture of me as child standing in front of that fountain with a frown…I don’t think I was very pleased to be there that day, for some reason. All I have of that memory is a picture of uncertain circumstances…

Along the Embarcadero were people plying their trade. There were artists, I think they were drawing people, though they had other drawings displayed too. There were also people that had boxes and were running games on top of them, with a bunch of people surrounding them betting on which of the three bottle caps something would be under after shuffling. Probably rigged >>;. And people were actually betting on it…I think one of the betters is actually a set-up and is fakely winning >>;.

On the Bart, I saw someone that looked like Ms. De Mers, my 9th grade English teacher, on the train, reading a book. We’ll never know now, hmm?

Aquarium of the Bay, is that the underwater tunnel with the glass walls so you can see the fishies on the outside? I remember something like that as a kid, I want to go back one of these days, but not now.

In other news: Progress report. Fukken intercepted. I’ve hidden it in a something that’s filled with hole, yet has been able to be used as a foundation for many. >>;

Fog

March 1, 2008

The fog was thick this morning, not too thick that I couldn’t see road ahead of me to the end of the street, but pretty thick still. Saw the skies this morning, thought it might be a bit leaning towards inclement weather. I walked out of the house and heard a plane flying overhead pretty damn loudly, so I looked up. Didn’t see a shit for the fog, I’m quite surprised something that big didn’t show up. I didn’t forget anything for once, it seemed, except war notes on Slaughterhouse-Five, although I purposely forsook those for a tidbit of sleep. Wild night, I slept around 2, then was awoken by Richard calling, my replying back incomprehensibly, and going back to sleep again.

I actually got to class early. Well, comparatively earlier than usual. Bell had rung, so I couldn’t be my first record of coming in before anyone else, but I was surprised at my punctuality. Of course, one time things usually don’t say much about things in the future.
